Vanguard Wire Transfer Fees

Vanguard doesn’t charge a fee to wire money to your bank. However, your bank might charge for receiving wires from your brokerage account or settlement fund.

Transfer from Vanguard to Charles Schwab

Here is how to move your account from Vanguard to Charles Schwab:

Step 1:
It’s easy to open a Schwab account. You can do it using the mobile app or the website. On the website, click the orange “Open an Account” button near the top. On the app, tap the More icon at the bottom, then choose “Open an Account.”

Make sure the account type and names match at Vanguard and Schwab.

You can open a self-directed or advisory account at Schwab. Keep in mind that only cash can be transferred into Schwab’s automated programs.

Step 2: After you apply to open a Schwab account, get your Vanguard account ready. If you’re transferring into a Schwab robo account, you may have to sell all your holdings first. For a self-directed account, you might not have to sell anything, but confirm with Schwab, especially if you hold mutual funds not supported by Schwab.

Step 3: Get your new Schwab account ready as well. If you plan to trade options or use margin, make sure those features are added.
