Charles Schwab Private Client Services Eligibility
Enrollment in Schwab Private Client Services requires $1 million in qualifying household assets, including at least one retail account. Balances from multiple eligible accounts within the same qualifying household can be combined to satisfy the minimum. Family members who reside at the client’s primary address and maintain Schwab accounts may also qualify for program benefits.
Several types of accounts can contribute toward the $1 million requirement. Qualifying assets include balances in select brokerage, managed, bank, and retirement accounts. Certain non-retirement business accounts may also qualify, depending on the client’s ownership interest and role.
Households that accumulate $10 million in qualifying assets, including a retail account, are automatically moved into Schwab Private Wealth Services™, an enhanced program with additional support and benefits.

Charles Schwab Private Client Services Fees
There is no enrollment fee for Schwab Private Client Services. Nevertheless, investments, advisory programs, banking products, and other financial services obtained through Schwab can carry separate charges. Eligible households remain enrolled for a minimum of 12 months. Schwab then reviews eligibility on an ongoing basis. Households with at least $10 million in qualifying assets can enter Private Wealth Services, while those that drop below $1 million may eventually lose Private Client Services benefits after reevaluation.
Private Client participants receive unlimited complimentary domestic wire transfers from their Schwab brokerage accounts. Eligible borrowers can also apply for a Pledged Asset Line secured by qualifying non-retirement investments.
Additional benefits are available to qualifying Private Client households. Depending on their eligible assets and mortgage, clients can receive an interest-rate discount of up to 0.75% on qualifying home loans through Schwab Bank Investor Advantage Pricing. Eligible Basic Card Members can also receive an annual $200 statement credit with the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Charles Schwab.
Financial products and services used in addition to the complimentary Private Client Services program may have their own fees.
Enrolling in Schwab Private Client Services
A separate application is not required for Private Client Services. Schwab automatically enrolls eligible households after they meet the qualifying asset threshold. Clients who believe they are eligible but have not been enrolled can call 866-855-9102 to speak with a Financial Consultant.
Using Schwab’s Private Client Services
Enrolled clients can use the program’s services by phone, online, through video meetings, or in person. Schwab maintains more than 400 branch locations nationwide, and you can use the branch locator to find the nearest office.
Potential Schwab Private Client Services Drawbacks
Previous clients of the Private Client program have reported high turnover of their Financial Consultants,
meaning they get different consultants over time, and a sales-driven environment. Enrollment in Schwab
Private Wealth Services is limited to households that satisfy the program’s qualifying asset requirement.
