Webull vs TradeStation in 2026

Webull vs. TradeStation: Key Impressions

• Webull and TradeStation offer advanced software for serious traders.

• Webull, unlike TradeStation, has robo-advisor accounts alongside self-directed accounts.

No-fee IRAs are available only at Webull.

TradeStation vs. Webull Introduction

TradeStation and Webull overlap in a few areas, although they also differ in major ways. Let’s dig in.

Investing

Webull clients can trade a respectable range of products:

- Domestic stocks
- Option contracts
- ETFs
- Futures
- Bonds
- Closed-end funds

Webull or TradeStation

Webull’s domestic-stock lineup also includes over-the-counter (OTC) securities, which can sometimes include foreign issues.

TradeStation also gives traders access to OTC stocks, and it adds mutual funds, fixed-income products, and futures contracts to the mix (along with the products already listed for Webull above).

But Webull has one major branch that TradeStation lacks: investment management. This service is available only in automated form. It requires a $100 minimum and costs 0.2% annually.

Both Webull and TradeStation offer taxable and retirement accounts. Only TradeStation also offers business accounts.

Winner: Debatable

Banking

TradeStation doesn’t offer much in the way of cash-management perks that really stand out here. Webull isn’t a full banking platform either, although it does provide a cash-management program that currently yields 3.35% on uninvested cash right now.

Winner: Webull

Websites

TradeStation has a simple website that is mainly for account management. The site itself is not built for trading, and we did not find much in the way of research tools there. However, it does host three trading platforms:

TradeStation vs Webull

- Web Trading (live and simulated)
- FuturesPlus
- Crypto

The first one, Web Trading, handles futures and securities. The second one is for futures options. The securities platform has a very capable order ticket with account switching, many duration selections, and several advanced order types. Full-screen charts are available with more than 50 technical studies.

At Webull, we found only one trading platform on the website. It can place orders for all of the products available through the broker. Its charts are somewhat better than TradeStation’s, with more plot styles and more drawing tools.

Webull vs TradeStation

Webull’s platform includes three order tickets: a classic ticket, an advanced ticket, and a rapid-entry ticket. TradeStation’s securities platform, by contrast, offers two (a standard ticket and a price ladder). Both platforms also support practice trading.

Winner: Pretty even

Mobile Apps

Mobile traders will find plenty to like at either broker. The TradeStation app has both live and simulated trading using the same strong order ticket we saw on its platform. Its charts, however, are not as good because there is no horizontal mode. Option chains appear on a security’s profile with multiple built-in strategies. It is possible to build custom 4-leg orders.

TradeStation vs Webull

On Webull’s mobile app, custom 4-leg orders cannot be built, although integrated option strategies are available. Webull does offer horizontal charting, and its graphs come with many useful tools, including dual charting, screenshot capture, and chart layers. Like the TradeStation app, the Webull app also has some advanced order types, such as bracket orders and limit conditional.

Webull vs. TradeStation

One feature on Webull’s app that really stood out to us, and that we didn’t see on TradeStation’s app, is the Feeds section, which works like a digital message board.

Winner: Webull

Desktop Environments

Desktop software is available at both firms and completes the trading experience. Both platforms include many of the tools we already saw, although the TradeStation program has a broader set of high-end features, including TSAlgos (a lineup of trading algorithms) and a strategy-optimization tool.

Webull versus TradeStation

Winner: TradeStation

Day Trading

Hotkeys: Both brokers’ desktop platforms include customizable hotkeys.

Day-Trading Workspaces: Both desktop systems in this matchup include layouts built for day traders.

Level 2 Quotes: TradeStation and Webull both provide Level 2 data.

Short Trades: Both firms provide short-selling tools and margin details.

Order Routing: Direct access to ECNs and market venues is available at TradeStation but not at Webull.

Extended-hours Trading: Both brokers offer pre-market and after-hours trading. At TradeStation, stocks trade in extended hours and futures are available nearly around the clock during the workweek, while cryptocurrencies trade 24/7.

Winner: TradeStation

Margin

Both brokers offer cash and margin trading in their brokerage accounts. Webull does require $2,000 in equity before margin can be enabled.

Any account that actually borrows funds will incur margin interest. Right now, Webull charges 8.74% to 4.74% for long positions, depending on the total borrowed amount. TradeStation’s tiered schedule is somewhat higher: 13.5% or 12.5% with negotiated rates above $500,000.

Webull’s software displays margin data such as maintenance requirement and margin rate for specific securities. TradeStation’s platform does not display the same sort of security-level detail, although its website does provide a list of symbols with unusual margin requirements.

Winner: Webull

Added Services

Fractional-share Trading: Only at Webull.

Individual Retirement Accounts: Both brokers here offer IRAs. TradeStation charges multiple fees on retirement accounts, although futures IRAs are available. Webull does not charge IRA fees.

DRIP: Webull offers automatic dividend reinvestment.

Initial Public Offerings: Both broker-dealers offer IPO trading.

Systematic Mutual Fund Purchases: Not available at either broker.

Fully-Paid Stock Lending: TradeStation and Webull customers can earn extra income by lending out fully paid shares.

Winner: Webull

Promotions

Webull: 3.5% match on contributions and $20 stock bonus with $500 deposit at Webull.

TradeStation: Currently, no promotions.

Our Recommendations

Mutual Funds: For obvious reasons, TradeStation beats Webull here, although Vanguard would be a better destination than TradeStation.

Long-Term Saving & Retirement Investing: Starting with an IRA at Webull would be a reasonable first step for retirement saving. TradeStation, meanwhile, offers trust accounts.

Beginners: A robo account at Webull, paired with paper trading on its desktop platform, would be a good starting point.

Small Accounts: Because TradeStation charges IRA fees, it is not ideal for small retirement balances. Webull has no IRA fees.

Frequent Stock/ETF Trading: Webull and TradeStation are both strong choices for active stock and ETF traders.

TradeStation vs Webull Result

Although TradeStation is the more advanced brokerage firm overall, Webull is still worth a serious look, especially because of its fractional-share trading and DRIP service.
