Coinbase under 18

Coinbase Minimum Age Requirement: 18 Years Old

Minimum Age to Open Coinbase Account

Highlights:

• You must generally be at least 18, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to open a Coinbase account.

• Depending on where you live, the minimum age can be higher.

• Coinbase confirms a customer’s age as part of its identity verification process using a government-issued ID.

In most locations, you need to be at least 18 years old to create a Coinbase account. In certain jurisdictions, however, a higher minimum age applies.

Coinbase’s Age Requirement

Coinbase generally requires customers to be at least 18 years old or to have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction, when that age is higher. As a result, Coinbase customers must always be at least 18.

Coinbase Minimum Age Requirement

Although 18 is the requirement in many jurisdictions, some locations have a higher age threshold. For example, the age of majority in Canadian provinces including Nova Scotia and British Columbia is 19. Coinbase customers living in these provinces therefore need to be at least 19 years old to open an account.

Coinbase does not provide custodial or minor accounts, so customers under the applicable minimum age cannot open a standard Coinbase account.
