Today, more than 70 cryptocurrencies can be traded through Webull. A separate crypto account is needed to trade coins, although Webull makes the account-opening process fairly simple.
The crypto account is a cash-based account and not a margin account. Short selling of cryptocurrencies is not supported at Webull.
Webull’s cryptocurrency service is offered through Webull Pay LLC. For customers outside Guam, New York, and the Northern Mariana Islands, crypto assets are held and safeguarded by Coinbase, which is responsible for trade execution and custody. For residents of Guam, New York, and the Northern Mariana Islands, crypto assets are managed by Bakkt Crypto Solutions LLC.

Pricing on Webull’s Crypto Accounts
There are no direct commissions on crypto trades at Webull. However, Webull includes a 1% spread in the price of most crypto trades, whether buying or selling. For non-stablecoin trades, a round trip can therefore involve a spread cost on both sides of the trade.
A Webull crypto account has no minimum account value. Even better, there are no separate transaction or commission fees for crypto trades.
The minimum for a regular crypto trade depends on location. It is $2 for customers outside New York, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands, and $1 for customers in those locations. Recurring crypto buys have a $5 minimum.

How to Open a Webull Crypto Account
To open a crypto account inside the Webull app, you first need a Webull brokerage account. If you open the crypto account through the separate Webull Pay app, a brokerage account is not required, although the two accounts can be linked.
Once the first step is complete, a cryptocurrency account can be opened from Webull’s mobile account-opening area. If you already have a Webull Pay crypto account, you can link it to the Webull app instead of opening a new one.
If you are linking an existing Webull Pay crypto account, tap Account in the Webull app, open the accounts drop-down, select Explore More Accounts, choose Crypto Account, and then select the option to link the account. If you are opening a new crypto account in the Webull app, follow the account-opening prompts and review the required disclosures before submitting the application.
Account approval times can vary. Webull says account applications are usually verified and approved within 24 hours, although additional review can take longer.
To open or access a crypto account on the mobile app, you can also go to the Crypto area or a coin’s profile and follow the prompts shown there.
Researching Coins at Webull
Webull’s platforms provide a moderate amount of information for crypto traders. On the website, click on the Live Quotes tab at the top of the website. On the Live Quotes page, there is a row of tabs a little further down; click on the Crypto tab.
On the Crypto page, you’ll get two lists of coins: Tradable and Non-tradable. Either one will produce a list of digital assets. Click on the coin you’re interested in, and Webull’s site will give you a profile with some useful details, including:
- Chart, with up to 5 years of price data
- OHLC numbers
- Short description of the coin
- News articles with thumbnails
On the mobile app, tap on the Markets icon in the bottom menu; at the top of the Markets page, tap on the Crypto link. You’ll get a page with all sorts of crypto information on it:

- Top Gainers
- Top Movers
- Market Cap
- Educational articles
- Crypto feeds, which are crypto posts on the app’s digital bulletin board

When you find something you want to buy, crypto buying power can be linked with an individual brokerage account in eligible locations. Once buying power is linked, the accounts share one pool of cash, although this feature is not available for residents of New York, Guam, or the Northern Mariana Islands.
Crypto trades can be placed on Webull’s mobile app and desktop platform. Crypto trading is not supported on the Webull Tablet and Advanced Trading (HD) app, although crypto can be traded through the Webull: Investing & Trading app.
