To open a crypto account at Webull, you first need a securities account. So that’s the first step in this short journey: open the securities account.
Once the first step is accomplished, a cryptocurrency account can be opened on Webull’s website or mobile app in no time. On the website, log in and click on the account icon in the upper-right corner. In the drop-down list of choices, click on the Account link.
On the Account page, click on the blue hyperlink to View All Accounts. On the next page, there will be a list of available accounts that can be opened. Click on the button for cryptocurrencies. A great deal of information will be populated. Scan over these data points and make sure everything is correct. On the next page, you’ll need to agree to some fine print. Check the box and click on the button to open the crypto account.
When we submitted our application, it took about five minutes for it to be approved.
To open a crypto account on the mobile app, simply go to a coin’s profile. Here, there will be a button to open a crypto account if you don’t yet have one.
Researching Coins at Webull
Webull’s software platforms have a moderate amount of information for crypto traders. On the website, click on the Live Quotes tab at the top of the website. On the Live Quotes page, there is a row of tabs a little further down; click on the Crypto tab.
On the Crypto page, you’ll get two lists of coins: Tradable and Non-tradable. Either one will produce a list of digital assets. Click on the coin you’re interested in, and Webull’s site will give you a profile with some useful details, including:
- Chart, with up to 5 years of price data
- OHLC numbers
- Short description of the coin
- News articles with thumbnails
On the mobile app, tap on the Markets icon in the bottom menu; at the top of the Markets page, tap on the Crypto link. You’ll get a page with all sorts of crypto information on it:
- Popular Crypto
- Top Gainers
- Top Movers
- Market Cap
- Educational articles
- Crypto feeds, which are crypto posts on the app’s digital bulletin board
Crypto charts are much better on the mobile app. More than 5 years of price data can be displayed, and there are lots of graphing tools.
Placing a Crypto Trade
When you find something you want to buy, your crypto buying power will be combined across two accounts: securities and crypto accounts. This means any buying power you have in your securities brokerage account will add to whatever buying power you have in your crypto account.
A trade can be placed on the mobile app; it is not possible to place a crypto trade on Webull’s desktop platform, website, or browser platform. So you have to use the mobile app. You can research coins on some of the other platforms.
For a crypto trade, Webull offers 4 order types:
- Market
- Limit
- Stop limit
- Recurring
For the recurring option, there are several frequencies.
