The wallet itself is not a blockchain; instead, it provides access to the private keys required to control, send, and use cryptocurrency.
Robinhood Wallet is a hot wallet, meaning it is software-based and designed for online access. In contrast, a cold wallet keeps private keys offline. Hardware wallets are a popular type of cold storage that use a physical device to isolate private keys from the Internet. This approach can offer greater separation from online threats, although it is generally less convenient for frequently accessing and using crypto.
Because Robinhood Wallet is a Web3 self-custody wallet, the user is responsible for maintaining access to and securing the wallet. Robinhood cannot access the wallet’s secret recovery phrase or private keys. If you lose access to the wallet without a working backup or recovery phrase, you could permanently lose access to the cryptocurrency stored there.
