Public.com Assets Under Management (AUM) in 2026

Public.com Customer Assets

Public Holdings, Inc. does not publish a consolidated figure for total customer assets held across its platform. Considering that most investors keep the bulk of their money in mutual funds and Public Holdings, Inc. does not offer mutual funds, the broker’s customer asset total must be much smaller than at other brokerage houses of the same size.

With average account size being around $15,000 and around 3.5 million customers, we estimate Public.com customer assets to be around $5 billion. This number makes the firm a mid-size broker.

Public.com Investing

Are you thinking about trading cryptocurrency on Public.com? If so, keep reading because we cover the important details you should know.

First, here is a brief introduction to Public.com for anyone who is not familiar with this online broker.

Public.com, through Open to the Public Investing, Inc. and affiliated service providers, is an online investing platform that provides access to stocks, ETFs, options, bonds, Treasuries, crypto, and other investment products. Public can be accessed through both its mobile app and web-based investing platform.

Public’s mission is to give people more opportunities to grow their wealth, and the platform supports this goal with fractional-share investing and access to multiple asset classes from one place. The company has also attracted investment from prominent names including Will Smith, J.J. Watt, Sophia Amoruso, and Casey Neistat, among others.

It’s hard to find specific financials for Public as a privately held company, but they do claim to have a “collaborative community of more than 1 million people.” Given the amount of capital they’ve been raising, it would appear that the broker is growing quickly.

Cryptocurrency on Public

Cryptocurrency (“crypto”) has become a popular asset class among millions of investors, particularly younger people and those who are relatively new to investing. It therefore makes sense that Public has expanded its platform to serve this market.

Public members can buy, sell, and hold crypto assets through the platform. This gives Public customers a convenient way to manage crypto, stocks, ETFs, bonds, Treasuries, and other investments from one platform. Public’s investing service has expanded considerably beyond its original focus on stocks and ETFs.

Public now provides a substantially broader cryptocurrency selection than it offered previously. The company currently advertises access to 60+ crypto assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and numerous other coins and tokens.

To purchase crypto on Public, simply go to the cryptocurrency section of the app or website. Small transactions are supported, with a minimum purchase amount of $1.

Crypto positions can be viewed through the Public platform alongside a customer’s other investments, making it convenient to monitor a broader portfolio from one place.

Public also provides Crypto IRAs for Traditional and Roth IRAs, allowing eligible customers to invest in cryptocurrency through a tax-advantaged retirement account. Crypto IRAs are distinct from ordinary taxable brokerage accounts and have their own custodian, requirements, and fee structure.

Public’s crypto service also includes more trading and transfer capabilities than it offered in the past. Cryptocurrency trading is available 24/7, and supported coins can be transferred into and out of regular crypto accounts. New York residents cannot currently transfer crypto in or out, and crypto transfers are not currently supported for Crypto IRAs.

This additional flexibility gives investors more control over purchasing, selling, and moving their crypto assets, although cryptocurrency prices can still change rapidly and executions may be influenced by liquidity and applicable platform rules.

Public also provides educational material covering the cryptocurrencies available through its platform. For example, customers can learn about Litecoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin, and other digital assets before making a purchase. Because cryptocurrency can experience substantial price swings, understanding an asset before investing is especially useful. Having this information directly within the Public platform makes research more convenient.

Public.com AUM

Cryptocurrency services available through Public are provided by Zero Hash LLC under a software licensing agreement between Zero Hash LLC and Public Platform LLC. Zero Hash is not a registered broker-dealer and does not belong to FINRA or SIPC. Cryptocurrency holdings are not insured by the FDIC or protected by SIPC.

Public does not currently provide individual cryptocurrency wallets. Instead, crypto purchased through Public is held in a zerohash account that customers can access through the Public app. Supported cryptocurrencies can also be transferred into and out of regular crypto accounts when transfers are supported by zerohash and applicable rules are satisfied. New York residents cannot currently transfer crypto in or out.

Public’s cryptocurrency service is available to New York residents for supported digital assets. Zero Hash is licensed by the New York State Department of Financial Services to conduct virtual currency business activity and money transmission.

Public Crypto Trading Final Thoughts

Public has developed from a stock-and-ETF investing app into a much broader online investment platform. In addition to stocks and ETFs, customers now have access to crypto, options, bonds, Treasuries, IRAs, margin, cash-management features, and additional investing tools. The cryptocurrency selection has expanded considerably as well, with 60+ crypto assets, $1 minimum purchases, and transfer support for eligible coins outside New York. Cryptocurrency remains volatile and is not covered by FDIC insurance or SIPC protection.
