Public.com Trading Hours: Pre Market and After Hours in 2026
|
Extended Hours at Public App: Key Points
• Public users can trade during both the pre-market and post-market sessions.
• To access these extended hours, users must have a Premium membership.
• If you don’t want to pay for Premium, Robinhood offers a good alternative.
Overview of Extended Hours at Public.com
Public.com allows its customers to trade stocks before the market opens and after it closes. However, some conditions apply.
Pre-Market and Post-Market at Public
For an hour and a half before the market opens and four hours after the market closes, Public users can buy and sell securities. This means traders at Public can trade for up to 12 hours in a day, from 8:00 AM EST to 8:00 PM.
Public.com 24 Hour Trading
Unlike Robinhood, Public.com does not currently offer 24-hour trading.
Cost of Extended-Hours Trading
One downside to Public’s extended-hours trading is that users need a Premium subscription, which costs $10 per month. However, accounts with over $20,000 in assets get the Premium service for free.
On the plus side, Premium members also get several additional benefits, such as VIP account management, real-time alerts, detailed performance metrics, exclusive content, and more.
At Public, there are no commissions for trading securities, whether during regular or extended hours.
Crypto Trading at Public
Although Public does not offer direct cryptocurrency trading, it partners with Bakkt Crypto to provide access to digital currencies. Cryptocurrencies trade 24/7, and the fees for crypto transactions vary depending on the trade amount.
Robinhood as an Alternative
For Public users who don’t have $20,000 or want to avoid the $10/month fee, Robinhood may be a better option. Robinhood allows pre-market and post-market trading for all users without extra fees, commissions, or account minimums. Robinhood also offers a longer pre-market session, from 7:00 AM EST to market open.
Another reason to consider Robinhood over Public is its 24-hour trading service. Robinhood offers around-the-clock trading for hundreds of stocks and ETFs five days a week. The 24-hour market begins Sunday at 8:00 PM EST and ends Friday at the same time. Examples of available securities include:
- Apple Inc (AAPL)
- iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT)
- Tesla (TSLA)
- GameStop (GME)
- ProShares UltraPro Short QQQ (SQQQ)
- Arm Holdings (ARM)
- SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY)
Robinhood’s order ticket offers three duration choices for 24-hour eligible securities:
- Regular session
- 24-hour market
- Extended hours (7 AM to 8 PM)
Finally, Robinhood also provides 24/7 cryptocurrency trading with more coin options than Bakkt.
