Ally Invest Trading Fees
Ally Invest offers trading in a variety of popular security types, including individual stocks and bonds, ETFs,
mutual funds, and options. If you are building a well-diversified portfolio with allocations across a variety
of asset classes and security types, the different commissions Ally charges for these securities will be an
important consideration. Below we will provide a detailed overview of what these commissions are at Ally Invest.
Stock Fees
Stock commissions at Ally Invest are now $0. One exception is a $4.95 plus $0.01 per share charge for trades
of penny stocks (those whose share price is under $2).
ETF Fees
Ally Invest’s ETF commissions follows the same schedule as stocks.
Mutual Fund Fees
Ally Invest charges a flat $9.95 commission for trading no-load mutual funds. It’s important to remember that
regardless of whether you pay a commission or a load fee for buying a mutual fund all investors will still have
to pay the fund’s annual management fee, which can range from just a few basis points to more than 1%.
Commission on Bonds
All customers pay the same commission for fixed income trades. A bond trade costs $1 per bond with a $10
minimum where a bond equals $1,000 of par value.
Commissions on CDs and U.S. Treasuries
CD trades at Ally cost a fixed $24.95. Buying and selling U.S. Treasuries is commission-free.
Options Fees
Commission on options at Ally Invest consists of per contract fee, which is $0.50. Option assignments and
exercising will cost $0.
Forex
Forex trading with Ally is commission-free as forex dealers make their money purely off the bid/ask spread of the currencies they deal in.
Broker-Assisted Trades
For clients who aren’t always near reliable internet access, Ally offers the option to call in and have a representative place their trade for them. Broker-assisted trades incur Ally’s normal commission for whatever instrument you are trading in addition to a $20 fee.
