Other TastyWorks Fees and Charges

Besides the standard trading commissions, there are some other fees that may at times be applicable to some TastyWorks traders. The most relevant of these fees, which range from account transfer fees to paper statement charges, are all discussed next.

Transfer Fees

Just like with most brokers, ACH transfers are also free at TastyWorks; however wire transfers and physical checks will cost you between $25-$40 and $5-$10 respectively. Transferring your portfolio to another broker will cost you $75, which is fairly common across the industry. And closing an IRA at TastyWorks will run you $60.

Regulatory and Clearing Fees

Exercising an options position at TastyWorks will incur a $5 charge. Options trades also incur a regulatory fee of about 3.4¢ per contract and clearing fees of about 10¢ per contract. Futures contracts also incur a relatively high (but still small) clearing fee of 30¢ per contract.

Corporate Actions Fees

Any voluntary corporate action that occurs in your account (i.e. tender offers) will cost you a flat $50 fee.

Paper Fees

If you aren’t quite ready to go green with your brokerage account, you can expect to pay a $5 fee for opting to receive your monthly/quarterly statements and tax forms in the mail instead of online. A paper prospectus will incur a $2.50 charge.

TastyWorks Commissions and Fees

TastyWorks is one of the newest brokerages to hit the market and is part of the Tasty Family. Just like Tasty Trade, they are really catering towards the avid options trader. They also have set themselves apart with a fairly unique and attractive commission model. In this article, we’ll dig into TastyWorks’ commissions and other fees.

Commissions on Stock Options

Opening a stock options position at TastyWorks will cost you a flat $1 per contract ($10 maximum per leg). The real beauty of their commission schedule though is that closing this position is commission-free. The usual clearing and regulatory fees still apply at TastyWorks (as they do at almost all brokers), but these are fairly small amounts.

Commissions on Stocks and ETFs

Placing a stock and ETF trade at TastyWorks has $0 commission.

Commissions on Futures and Options on Futures

Opening a futures trade at TastyWorks is a fixed $1.25 per contract, and it’s the same charge to close the position. Therefore, a roundtrip futures trade would be $2.50 per contract plus any applicable regulatory fees. TastyWorks also lets you trade options on futures, which will set you back $2.50 per contract on the opening trade and won’t cost you anything to close (other than regulatory fees).

TastyWorks Fees Summary

The above discussion covers all the commission charges you could possibly incur in your TastyWorks account as well as the less common fees that some traders encounter. That said, it’s still recommended that you take a look at TastyWorks’ full fee disclosure on their website prior to opening an account. Depending on the uniqueness of your investor profile, other less common fees disclosed on their website could apply to your account at some point.
