OptionsHouse Promotion Code Details

There are several promotions available right now to new and current OptionsHouse traders. The most appealing special is commission-free trading for 2 months. This OptionsHouse promo is only valid for new clients and requires a $5,000 opening deposit. The required funds must be received no later than 60 days after account opening. Besides regular brokerage accounts, the promotion can be used to open a new IRA as well.

There is a limit of 100 stock and ETF transactions. At the broker’s $4.95 commission, this special translates into a maximum savings of $495. The free trades cannot be used to pay for option exercises, assignments, or per-contract fees. This OptionsHouse promo expires on June 30, 2017.

OptionsHouse Promo for Current Clients

OptionsHouse hasn’t forgotten its current customers. The broker has a refer-a-friend special that allows investors who already have an OptionsHouse account to receive a $150 Amazon gift card for referring a new trader to the broker. The OptionsHouse website has an easy form to submit the friend’s e-mail address. The new account must be funded with at least $1,000 within 2 months of opening in order for the original client to qualify for the gift card.

If the new account is funded with $5,000 or more within 2 months, the friend will receive 100 commission-free trades. For the purposes of this promotion, OptionsHouse will allow a friend to be a co-worker or neighbor. The broker will even accept a relative who doesn’t have the same address as yourself. OptionsHouse requires the new account to remain open, active, and funded for at least 6 months.

In lieu of the Amazon gift card, the OptionsHouse client can choose 30 free trades. These rebates apply to stock, ETF, and options trades, excluding exercises, assignments, and per-contract fees. They expire 60 days after being awarded. Current customers can earn no more than 50 awards per year.

OptionsHouse Transfer Awards

Investors who have a brokerage account with another firm can move it to OptionsHouse and not pay a dime in transfer fees. Up to $100 in ACAT charges will be reimbursed by OptionsHouse if you transfer a full account within 30 days of opening the new OH account.

Even better, this special can be used along with the above promo for commission-free trades. The old account must be worth at least $5,000. To qualify for the transfer fee rebate, you must contact an OptionsHouse associate and mention “$100 ACAT cash credit”.

New clients who don’t have a brokerage account to move to OptionsHouse haven’t been left out, either. The broker will refund up to $25 for any wire transfer fee a new customer incurs for moving cash into a new OptionsHouse securities account. Remarkably, the broker will allow a new customer to use the wire fee rebate in conjunction with the transfer fee rebate and the promo for commission-free trades. OptionsHouse promises to refund the wire fee within 60 days of receiving the deposit.

Investors looking for quality trading tools from a low-cost broker should check out OptionsHouse. With several brokerage awards under its belt, the company has consistently proven to be an excellent value to customers. Let's take a detailed look at what this brokerage firm has to offer.

Optionshouse Commissions and Accounts

Aside from great incentive OptionsHouse offers a $4.95 flat-rate commission for stocks. This commission is lower than the vast majority of on-line brokers, including E*Trade ($6.95), Scottrade ($6.95), and Merrill Edge ($6.95). As the broker's name implies, OptionsHouse caters to option traders. Derivative contracts are just $0.50 extra on top of the $4.95 base charge. E*Trade charges $0.75 extra, while Scottrade is at $0.70.

OptionsHouse has living, breathing brokers on the phone who can assist clients in executing a trade. Using this service is $29.95. In comparison, TD Ameritrade charges $44.99 for the same service.

A trading account at OptionsHouse has no fees. This includes inactivity fees, account maintenance fees, and low-balance fees. There is also no minimum opening deposit requirement. Other brokers, such as Fidelity and Schwab, do require a certain minimum deposit to open a securities account.

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA's) are also available at OptionsHouse. Like the regular brokerage account, an IRA carries no special fees and there is no minimum deposit requirement. A Schwab IRA, in contrast, has a $1,000 opening requirement. At OptionsHouse, investors can choose from several account types, including Roth, Traditional, Rollover, and SEP.

Investors who want to maximize their trading potential can use margin at OptionsHouse. A debit under $10,000 currently costs 7.75% annually. This is lower than TD Ameritrade (9.25%) and Fidelity (8.575%).

OptionsHouse clients can elect to receive dividends in shares of equity rather than cash by signing up for the broker's Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP). There is no charge for this service.

OH can also be contacted by e-mail and fax. Customer service reps with the broker have a history of being trained and knowledgeable.

Trading Tools
