Cryptocurrency Trading at Webull

Available Currencies

Webull offers trading in Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Litecoin (LTC). This isn’t the largest selection in the world, but it’s a start. We expect more coins to be added in the future.

Fees and Commissions

Webull’s mission is to offer $0 commissions on all of its products. Cryptocurrency trades have zero fees. Moreover, accounts have no minimum balance requirements or on-going fees like annual or inactivity charges. So the only thing you really have to worry about at Webull is the price you buy at and the price you sell at.

How to Buy Bitcoin and Others on Webull?

Once you’ve added cryptocurrency trading to your Webull account, it’s time to place some trades. These will have to be real trades because Webull’s software unfortunately does not permit crypto trading in practice mode. Although there is a paper trading button on Webull’s platform, you can only trade stocks and ETFs in simulated mode.

During our testing, we were only able to place crypto trades on Webull’s mobile app and browser platform (after updating the desktop software to the latest version, we still could not place crypto trades). Research is possible on all three platforms: browser, desktop, and mobile.

If you have an old version of Webull’s mobile app on your phone, you won’t be able to place any crypto trades on it; so remember to update to the latest version.

Webull’s order ticket for currencies provides both limit and market orders. The latter order type is automatically set to immediate or cancel; the former is a day order. On the trade ticket, you can specify number of coins or dollar amount. And both can be entered in fractions.

Crypto Research

Webull’s platforms offer limited research tools. There is no currency screener (there are only 4 assets, after all), although the broker does a good job of providing lots of news articles. For Bitcoin, we found several articles that had been published in the last 5 hours.

To find profiles on digital currencies, you’ll want to enter a ticker symbol in the search field (BTC, BCH, ETH, or LTC) on any of the three platforms. You can also enter names, such as Ethereum or Bitcoin. Once you’ve done this, you can easily add a currency to a watchlist. Just click or tap on the star that appears on the currency’s profile. This will allow you to save a currency and not have to enter it again.

Key stats are shown on a currency’s profile. These include data points like 52-week low and previous close.

The Webull mobile app has a comment section on a currency’s profile. Here, you can browse through posts by other Webull users and see what trades they’re making. You can also set up alerts for cryptos.

Charting Digital Currencies

If you want to analyze price action of cryptocurrencies, you can do it with drawing tools, technical studies, and more at Webull. The broker’s mobile app has a feature that will display two currencies simultaneously, one on top of another. And on the desktop and browser platforms, you can add a currency to a watchlist or establish an alert by right-clicking on a currency’s chart. In the drop-down menu that appears, just select watchlist or alert to start the process.

Risks of Cryptocurrency Trading

Webull has partnered with Apex Crypto to provide trading in digital currencies. Apex Crypto is not a member of FINRA. Cryptocurrencies are not considered securities or bank products, which means they aren’t insured by the FDIC or SIPC. Thus, there is substantial risk in trading cryptocurrencies. Fraudulent activity has occurred in the cryptocurrency marketplace, and with fewer safeguards in place, you should only use risk capital in cryptocurrency trading.
