Webull Futures Introduction
To its growing list of trading services, Webull has added futures. There are a variety of contracts available, and new traders will find educational materials to help learn the basics.
Opening a Futures Account
To actually place a trade for a futures contract at Webull, a separate futures account must be opened
first. Futures cannot be held or traded in a securities account. So the first step in our journey is
to get that futures account open.
To be eligible for a futures account, you must be a U.S. resident and have an existing individual Webull brokerage account. To apply on the website, log in and go to the My Account page by clicking the icon in the upper-right corner. From there, click Explore more Accounts, scroll down to Futures, and follow the application prompts. On the mobile app, go to Menu, Settings, Account Management, Apply for new accounts, and then choose Futures. If you already have a securities account open, some information may be pre-filled. You will need to review futures documents and electronically sign them.
A futures account has its own unique account number at Webull; it is different from the number assigned to any securities account held under the same login credentials.

Learning about Futures
Beginners will definitely want to spend some time getting acquainted with the world of futures contracts before diving in with actual trades. Webull does have some educational resources on derivatives. To find these, head to the website and hover over the Hub tab in the top menu. In the drop-down window, click on the Learn link.
On the next page, scroll down to the section from CME Group. Within this section, you’ll find a variety of materials on the basics of futures contracts. The materials are actually links to the CME website where articles and videos are hosted. Here are a few examples we found during our research:
- Introduction to Futures (18 articles, some with videos)
- Futures vs. ETFs (3 articles, some with videos)
- Understanding Futures Spreads (11 articles, some with videos)
Finding Contracts
Finding a contract to trade is very simple, thanks to Webull’s user-friendly mobile app. Simply log into the app and tap on the Markets icon in the bottom menu. On the Markets page, look for the Futures icon in the Discover section at the top.
On the Futures page, Webull has arranged contracts into the following sections:
- Micro Futures
- Equity Index Futures
- FX Futures
- Metals Futures
- Energy Futures
- Interest Rates Futures
- Agricultural Futures
- Crypto Futures
Tiles of individual contracts appear in the collections. Simply tap on a tile to bring up the contract’s profile.
If you already know the ticker symbol for the futures contract, you can enter it in the search bar at the top. The forward slash (/) is not necessary on the mobile app, although it does help to eliminate equity results in the drop-down list of choices.
However a contract’s profile is accessed, Webull presents a variety of data points, including margin requirements on the contract, time and sales numbers, the day’s high and low prices, a chart, chains for options on the futures contract, and news articles. At the bottom is a blue Trade button.
Placing a Trade
A trade for a contract can be submitted through the mobile app, desktop platform, or WebTrade platform.
After hitting the blue Trade button on either platform, the ticket offers several trade types, including market, limit, stop market, stop limit, trailing stop, and OCO orders. A bracket can be attached to a futures order, and be sure to look at the bottom of the ticket before submitting the order for the estimated cost of the trade.
On the mobile app, there are three vertical dots next to the trade button. Under these dots lies the order ticket for a simulated trade, which is good practice.
Webull Futures Trading Fees and Minimums
There is no minimum deposit requirement at Webull to open a futures account. However, once an account is opened, it will need to be funded before any trades can be submitted. Webull requires $100 in minimum equity to trade futures. To place a trade, the account must also meet the margin requirement for the specific futures contract being traded.
Trades of futures contracts aren’t commission-free, either. Here are the prices:
| Standard | $1.25/contract |
| Mini | $0.70/contract |
| Micro | $0.25/contract |
| Crypto | $1.50/contract |
Clearing, exchange, and regulatory fees are passed on to the customer.
