Chase Brokerage Accounts Free Trades Promo

If you’re considering opening a brokerage account with Chase you should know that there are a couple easy ways to get commission-free trades. One of the easiest things you can do is simply open an account today and take advantage of their current new account offer, which gives every new Chase brokerage account 100 free U.S. stock and ETF trades, which unfortunately expire within one year of account opening (unlike Firstrade which offers unlimited free trades with no conditions). But, don’t worry; we’ll discuss some other ways to keep the free trades rolling in once these first 100 have expired.

Chase Brokerage Deal For Premier Plus Checking Customers

If you already have a Chase Premier Plus Checking Account, Chase is willing to go the extra mile to win over your brokerage business too. Currently, any Chase Premier Plus banking customer who also opens a Chase brokerage account will automatically get 100 commission-free trades credited to their account each year. Once these free trades run out, however, you will pay $2.95 per trade for U.S. stocks and ETFs.

Chase You Invest Deal For Sapphire Banking Customers

The offer is even better for Chase Sapphire Banking customers. If you have one of these accounts, your Chase brokerage account will be entitled to $0 commission on all U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs (i.e. unlimited free trades). These free trades, as well as the free trades for Premier Plus Checking Customers, can be used in up to two retirement and two non-retirement accounts per customer. This is helpful for anyone who has both an IRA/401K and non-retirement investment portfolio.

Does Chase Charge Fees for These Checking Accounts?

If you are planning to open a Chase Brokerage account and you don’t yet have either of these Chase checking accounts you should really consider opening one for these benefits alone. Just be aware that if certain conditions aren’t met, both of these checking accounts charge a $25 monthly maintenance fee. To avoid this fee, Premier Plus and Sapphire accounts must have a minimum average daily balance of $15,000 and $75,000, respectively or you must have monthly direct payments setup from your Chase checking account to a qualified Chase mortgage.

Free Mutual Fund Trades

Online mutual fund trades are always free of commission at Chase, but note that most mutual funds charge an annual management fee as a % of the NAV.

General Overview of Chase Brokerage Accounts

Chase is overall an attractive brokerage account as their pricing structure is competitive even without the free trades, and they offer plenty of insightful articles and learning sessions for investors of all experience levels to broaden their understanding of the market and economy. A Chase “You Invest” account is, as the name suggests, focused on the customer’s specific investment needs. One of the ways Chase focuses on the investor is through its proprietary algorithm, the Portfolio Builder Tool.

Portfolio Builder

Portfolio Builder comes with your Chase account (as long as your balance is at least $5,000) and is a robot advisor that asks you questions to develop a profile of your current financial situation, your investment goals and risk tolerance. With this information, the algorithm can create an ideal portfolio that suits your lifestyle and needs, and as the market fluctuates it can automatically rebalance your portfolio so you don’t need to constantly keep an eye on it.
