moomoo is a newer brokerage firm that has been getting a lot of attention. Still, it doesn’t yet offer
many account types. Here’s the complete rundown:
Account Types at moomoo
For securities trading, the American arm of moomoo currently offers the
self-directed individual taxable brokerage account. That is the only account type it currently has for securities investing. The account can be opened on either a cash or margin basis.
moomoo in the United States does not offer any type of managed account or investment advice. It does offer crypto accounts, though. These are separate accounts that are available as individual self-directed cash accounts; there is no margin capability in crypto accounts.
moomoo USA does not offer joint accounts, custodial accounts, IRAs, or any other account registration. There are no tax-sheltered accounts of any kind.

Other National Divisions
Other country branches offer a wider variety of accounts. For example,
Canadian clients can open two tax-sheltered accounts: the RRSP and the TFSA. These are offered in addition to margin and cash accounts.
moomoo Singapore offers entity accounts for groups and institutions; examples include asset managers, family offices, proprietary trading groups, financial advisors, and more.
Then there are full-service accounts for Singaporean clients with enough assets to get into moomoo’s Wealth Management program. Specifically, the minimum investment amount is S$1 million, but those who qualify will receive many services through moomoo’s advisory program. Examples include:
- Dedicated relationship manager
- Personalized investment solutions
- Access to alternative assets
- Trust consultancy
- Elite club memberships
- Closed-door events
The Hong Kong branch of moomoo (doing business as Futubull) also has Private Wealth Management. Futures accounts can be opened as well. The Malaysian branch of moomoo also has futures accounts.
The Australian branch of moomoo offers self-managed super funds (SMSFs), which are built for retirement.
moomoo customers in Japan can open the Nippon Individual Savings Account (NISA), which provides tax benefits beyond the standard taxable account.
Opening a moomoo Account
To open any account at any branch of moomoo, simply go to the appropriate website and look for the orange button to open an account or sign up. Click that button and follow the on-screen instructions. A Wealth Management account requires a visit with a financial advisor.
If you already have a securities account, you can log into the mobile app and look for a button to open a crypto or futures account, depending on the jurisdiction of the securities account.
For example, to open a U.S.-based crypto account, log into the app and tap on the Markets tab in the bottom menu. Next, select the tab at the top for crypto. On the crypto page, there will be a button to open a new crypto account, which will be separate from the securities account.
